Kobus Kotze, a self-taught artist, draws his inspiration from a profound love for capturing landscapes and the delicate interplay between humanity and nature. Hailing from the Eastern Cape, he pursued studies in agriculture while nurturing his artistic talents on his farm. During the day, he jotted down a plethora of creative ideas, which he passionately expressed on canvas in his studio during the evenings.

In 1971, Kobus held his inaugural solo exhibition, marking the beginning of a prolific career punctuated by numerous successful showcases. A master of colors, he skillfully blends and combines them in his artwork, showcasing a remarkable sense of discipline, discernment, and a genuine affection for the art of color manipulation.

Since 1967, Kobus has been honing his craft, developing a distinctive approach to mixing and employing colors. His unparalleled ability to bring the sky to life, imbuing it with excitement and radiance, remains one of the standout features of his captivating work.

As an artist, Kobus Kotze also utilizes his camera to capture the beauty of landscapes, trees, and urban environments. In his studio, he infuses these photographs with his emotions and traditions, resulting in art that resonates deeply with his admirers. His creative vision is influenced by esteemed artists such as Cèzanne, van Gogh, Monet, Sisley, as well as renowned South African talents like Pieter Zienning, Hugo Naudè, Edward Roworth, and Gregoir Boonzaier.

Kobus's remarkable artwork has found its way into both private and corporate collections, gracing homes and businesses across South Africa and abroad. With an unwavering dedication to his craft and an artistic finesse that evokes wonder, Kobus Kotzè's creations continue to leave a lasting impression on art enthusiasts worldwide.
