OUR STORY
Robertson Art Gallery opened its doors in September 2004, before Voortrekker Road became the tourist attraction that it is today.
A big dream and an extraordinary love for art was what inspired Elaine Paulsen, founder and curator, to open a gallery in a town rich with culture and wine. With the endless possibilities that Voortrekker Road had to offer, she worked extremely hard to turn her dream into a reality. With the support of her husband Pat Paulsen, being a farmer at the time, they turned a sturdy old railway house into the established Robertson Art Gallery that is loved and revered around the world.
With Elaine’s eye for good art, attention to detail, as well as the dream she envisioned, a gallery filled with selectively sourced artworks quickly turned into an ensemble of more than 60 renowned artists from all over South Africa. In 2008, after all his years of farming, Pat joined Elaine full-time. He manages sales, as well as the framing department, and coordinates deliveries world-wide.
Elaine, being the dreamer and entrepreneur that she is, also grew the collection of Sterling Silver jewellery offered by the Robertson Art Gallery into a selection that is hard to match; offering variety, quality and prices that makes the Robertson Art Gallery a must-stop for all jewellery lovers.
Going from strength to strength over the years, the one aspect of the Robertson Art Gallery team that has never changed, is its philosophy – to always offer personal customer service and delivering a premium product, sparing no expense in the effort to do so.
